The members of National Neonatology Forum stated that services of the Special Newborn Care Unit in Government District Hospital are appreciable. The forum members visited the Special Newborn Care Unit on Sunday. They observed the services delivered to babies admitted from across the region at the Special Newborn Care Unit. In response to a question by the members, Dr. B.Venkateshwarlu said that a total of 4,185 neonates had been admitted to the Special Newborn Care Unit since its inception. Of those, 3,848 were treated and discharged safely. The members of the National Neonatology Forum agreed that improvement of facilities in the labor room will lead to a decrease in the number of neonatal admissions to Special Newborn Care Unit. The experts also said that making ventilation equipment available in the unit will ensure better services for the admitted newborns. The program was attended by Dr. Srinivas Murki (National Neonatology Forum), Dr. Srinivas Goud (ACCESS Health International), Hospital Superintendent Dr.Akash, Dr.Lakshman Rao, Dr.Babu Ratnakar, Mr.Sagar, and other nursing staff of the hospital.
