In 2015, eHomecare was a new concept in elder care in Sweden. Västerås Municipality was a pioneer in this area. In this interview, Sofia Widén speaks with Åsa Löwing, the eHomecare manager for Västerås Municipality.

In 2013, Västerås Municipality launched eHomecare to support older people living at home as a pioneer in area of information and communications technology in elder care. eHomecare benefits the security, participation, independence, and availability of the elderly. With eHomecare, the elderly are monitored and able to participate in their rehabilitation to a larger extent. To qualify for eHomecare, individuals must apply for homecare or home assistance through the municipality.

The introduction of eHomecare has enabled homecare providers to improve quality of live for their residents by providing the right support to those in need, wherever they need it.
