Chang Liu

Chang Liu

Managing Director for Singapore, Mainland China, and Hong Kong

Chang Liu manages our work in east and southeast Asia. He is deeply involved in the design and supervision of ACCESS Health aging related projects in Southeast Asia and mainland China. Chang and ACCESS Health President William A. Haseltine are currently working on a new book, A City for All Ages, based on best practices in elder and long term care. Chang authored the epilogue to Dr. Haseltine’s previous book, Affordable Excellence, which documents the progress toward sustainable high quality healthcare in Singapore during 2013 and 2014.

In addition to his work with ACCESS Health, Chang is also adjunct professor at the National University of Singapore Enterprise and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He also participates in several projects on aging in Singapore, including large scale national surveys and intervention programs. Previously, he worked at the Center for Gerontology and Healthcare Research at Brown University, where he studied long term care and elder care policies in both the United States and China. He earned his PhD in Health Services Research (2013) from Brown University with a specialization in health economics. He was awarded the eXebs Friedrich J. Schoening International Scholarship and was named an eXebs Fellow during his exchange study at the European Business School, Germany.

Donna Brown

Donna Brown

Director, Hong Kong

As Director, Donna is responsible for the development, management, and leadership of all ACCESS Health activities in Hong Kong. She is currently working to build and strengthen ACCESS Health relationships with public sector, private sector, and nongovernmental partners while developing long term and locally tailored healthcare programs. She is founder and co chair of the social enterprise subcommittee of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and the Honorary Ambassador for the local Alzheimer’s caregiver community for disease advocacy and education. She is also a part time lecturer at Hong Kong University School of Professional and Continuing Education. Donna holds a PhD in Pharmacology from University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor degree in Nutrition from Fu Jen University, Taiwan.

Rachel Leung

Rachel Leung

Adjunct Consultant

Rachel Leung works with Chang Liu and the ACCESS Health Hong Kong office. She facilitates our joint programs with the Chinese University of Hong Kong Jockey Club Institute of Ageing. She is currently completing her undergraduate studies in public health at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Previously, Rachel worked as a course developer for the Master’s in Executive Healthcare Leadership program at the Brown University School of Public Health. She has also worked on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects in Cambodia.

Siddhartha Bhattacharya

Siddhartha Bhattacharya

Country Director, India

Siddhartha Bhattacharya is responsible for the overall development, management, and leadership of the activities of ACCESS Health International in India. His responsibilities include the establishment of collaborations and management of partnerships with government and the public and private sectors as well as with research and development organizations.

Previously, Siddhartha served as chief operating officer and technology head for the Emergency Management and Research Institute of GVK. The Institute delivers integrated emergency response and technology driven health outreach services to seventeen states and union territories in India through public private partnerships. In prior leadership roles, he has worked with Dell, Inc, (USA), Philips (India), and the government of Kerala in a number of cross functional global assignments. Siddhartha holds a Bachelor's degree with honors in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Rajasthan. He also received his Master's in Business Administration from the John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. In addition, Siddhartha received an Executive Scholar certificate in sales and marketing from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Siddhartha is interested in people, projects, and alliances that thrive on rapid change, scale, and globalization. He likes to mentor promising startups in his personal time.

Biswajeet Chatterjee is responsible for the global finance function at ACCESS Health International. He is a finance professional with over thirty five years of rich industry experience in overall business and finance function. He has worked in global companies like BOC Gases, EI DuPont, Kelly Services and Mother Dairy group. He is experienced in implementation of best practices in finance, corporate governance, merger and acquisitions; business valuation, business restructuring and change management through business process re-engineering, He has also authored a number of popular books in contemporary business and finance topics like International Financial Reporting Standards, Indian Accounting Standards, Financial Reporting under Corporate Restructuring, Financial Reporting under consolidation of subsidiaries, associates and joint ventures and Business Valuation.

Ajitkumar Sudke

Director, Quality and Process Improvement

Ajitkumar leads the Quality and Process Improvement project in India. He is also responsible for the integration of quality improvement across all other programs of ACCESS Health International. Prior to ACCESS Health, Ajitkumar served as Senior Program Officer of Maternal Newborn and Child Health for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, India Country office where he led the Maternal and Childcare portfolio. He has also worked closely with the maternal and child health divisions of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and the National Health Systems Resource Center in developing the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matrutva Abhiyaan operational guidelines. Ajitkumar has worked as a Health Specialist for UNICEF Guwahati, Health Officer for Patna, and Child Health Consultant for the ACCESS Health Hyderabad office.

Ajitkumar has first hand experience working as a government medical officer in a primary health center, community health center, and district hospital in Maharashtra. He has led multiple innovations in mobile health in Assam that have won national and international recognition. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Pediatrics from B.J. Medical College, Pune Maharashtra and Post Graduate Diploma in Maternal and Child Health from IGNOU, New Delhi. He has also received certificates in Equity Focused Evaluation and National Evaluation Capacity Development from Claremont University, a Dynamic Leadership Certificate from the Emerging Managers Program at Harvard Business Publishing, and a Green Belt Six Sigma from the Government of India.

Maulik Chokshi

Maulik Chokshi

Director, Health Systems

Maulik Chokshi drives our health systems work in India and provides technical and programmatic leadership for our policy work. Maulik brings with him two decades worth of health experience. He spent eight highly regarded years with the Public Health Foundation of India, worked as an advisor to the global healthcare information company IMS Health, and consultant to many national and international agencies and development partners. He has worked extensively on policies and capacity building initiatives related to medicine procurement, pricing, immunization, maternal and child health, healthcare financing in an Indian setting.

His background spans a number of health areas and geographic regions. His experience includes work on noncommunicable diseases like diabetes and communicable diseases like tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS. Globally, he has worked on health systems in the Mekong region, sub Saharan Africa, and the Middle East. Maulik holds a Master’s degree in Health Policy Planning and Financing from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a diploma from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He also holds a Master’s degree in Biochemistry from Maharaja Sayaji Rao University.

Director of Operations, Quality Healthcare ACCESS Private Limited

Chandan Datta is the Director of Operations for Quality Healthcare ACCESS Private Limited. Chandan leads new business initiatives to grow operations in India. He is responsible for developing new programs with governments, foundations, consultants, and the private sector, supporting expansion into new states, and developing partnership strategies and outreach programs. Chandan has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Science.

Jaidev Anand

Senior Technical Specialist

Jaidev Singh Anand works on the Health Financing Support Program as Senior Technical Specialist. Jaidev supports the development of a health financing strategy that will meet the needs of government, public, private, and academic partners. Before joining ACCESS Health International, he worked with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit in Dhaka, Bangladesh. As an advisor in the field of Health Financing, his role was to provide technical support and help build capacity within the government. Jaidev has completed his Bachelor’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Mumbai University, and also holds a Master’s degree in International Pharmacoeconomics and Health Economics from Cardiff University.

Vardhan Prabhakar

Senior Associate

S. Prabhaker Vardhan works on the Safe Care, Saving Lives project as a Senior Associate. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, he worked as a State Training Officer based in Ranchi, Jharkhand under the United Nations Development Program for Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network. He also worked as a Quality Assurance Consultant on the Bihar Technical Assistance Support Team, DFID, UK. Initiative, as a Quality Assurance Consultant, where he closely worked with the Regional Program Management Unit and District Health Societies Public Health facilities strengthening for maternal and child health and quality management system installation across Munger Division, Bihar. He holds a Bachelor of Technology, Biotechnology from St. Peters University, Chennai,Tamil Nadu. He is currently pursuing Master of Public Health from the Asian Institute of Public Health at Utkal University in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Manisha Tripathi is a consultant on the Primary Care Pilot Program in Uttar Pradesh, helping with the design and development of tender documents and as a tenders liaison to government and private sector partners. Manisha has more than twelve years of experience in public health, having worked in India with both Population Services International and Family Health International 360. Manisha holds a Master’s degree in Social Work , a Bachelor’s degree in law, and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration.

Quality Lead

Sanjeev Kumar works on the Safe Care, Saving Lives project as Quality Lead. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, he was with the World Health Organization and a Tropical Disease Research Fellow at the James P. Grant School of Public Health in Dhaka Bangladesh. Before the fellowship, he worked with the Saving New born Lives Alliance-Save the Children, India as an Innovation Coordinator based in Bihar, where he looked for Implementation Research on Gentamycin-PSBI Management Rollout and Chlorohexidine-Cord care. He also worked on the Bihar Technical Assistance Support Team as a Quality Assurance Consultant, where he closely worked with the State Health Society, Regional Management Units and District Health Societies for planning and monitoring public Health facilities strengthening for Maternal &Child health and Quality Management System Installation across Bihar. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Health and Hospital Management specialized in health from the International Institute of Health and Hospital Management and Research, New Delhi. He is also currently pursuing a Master of Population Science from the International Institute of Population Science, Mumbai.

Vishal Abhishek is part of the Quality and Process Improvement team of the Safe Care, Saving Lives program, working mainly as a quality improvement mentor in hospitals in Telangana. He previously interned with ACCESS Health and with Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad on quality assurance. He holds a Bachelors in Life Sciences, Bachelors in Public Administration, and a graduate degree in Hospital and Healthcare Administration from Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad.

Taara Chandani works with the ACCESS Health India team. She helps manage the design of the Primary Care Pilot Program and implementation of the Center for Health Market Innovations Learning Exchange. Taara has fifteen years of experience in health sector financing and capacity building across Africa and Asia. She has worked with a variety of consulting firms and aid agencies, including Banyan Global, Blue Lotus Advisory, the Microinsurance Centre, USAID, and the United Nations Development Programme. Taara holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College.

Anuradha works is a lead researcher with ACCESS Health India. She brings more than seven years of experience in public health research, implementation support, and knowledge management. Anuradha has worked with experienced teams on conceptualizing and conducting both secondary and primary research, including household surveys, facility assessments, focus group discussions, and qualitative interviews. She has also authored several blogs and opinion pieces.

Prashanthi Krishnakumar works on the Public Private Partnerships Project. She also contributes to the India work for the Center for Health Market Innovations. She has an MBA in Healthcare and Hospital Management from the University of Hyderabad as well as a Master’s degree in Bioscience from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning.

Sireesha Perabathina

Sireesha Perabathina works on the Joint Learning Network for Universal Health Coverage and the associated Joint Learning Fund. She has over a decade of management and administrative experience in healthcare and has been extensively involved in program design, management, and implementation support for integrated health system solutions. Sireesha was a Ford Foundation Fellow and has a dual Master’s of Public Health, in Maternal and Child Health and International Health, from the School of Public Health at Boston University. She also has an MBA in Healthcare from the Indian Institute of Health and Hospital Management and Research. Outside of work, Sireesha is an accomplished baker and painter.

Lakshmi Shanthi manages the compliance and office administration needs for ACCESS Health International and oversees the maintenance and management of facilities, operations, and activities across ACCESS Health programs in seven countries. In addition to her organization wide responsibilities, she provides assistance to the Country Director, India and Global Executive Director. Lakshmi has a Master’s of Science in Biotechnology from the University College for Women, Osmania University in Hyderabad.

Amita Yadav works on the Primary Care Pilot Project in India. Amita has eight years of experience in medical and public health in India, Bangladesh, and the United States. Prior to ACCESS Health, Amita worked with the Clinton Global Health Access Initiative in Uttar Pradesh. She holds a Master in Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and did her Postdoctoral Fellowship at Harvard Medical School.

Stuti Shukla is a research consultant at ACCESS Health India. She has worked on several research projects at ACCESS Health, some in collaboration with other development sector organizations. Before joining ACCESS Health, Stuti worked as a journalist in Mumbai with The Indian Express, a reputed national newspaper in India. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Mumbai University and a Post Graduate in Public Policy and Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

Azeem Ahamed is a part of the Quality and Process Improvement team on the Safe Care, Saving Lives project neonatal collaborative in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Azeem has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from NTR University of Health Sciences and a graduate degree from Administrative Staff College of India Hyderabad. He has experience working in Fernandez Hospital, which caters to mother and child in operations. Azeem has also worked as a Manager of Operations for two years in Suvitas, which is a multi specialty rehabilitation center in Hyderabad.

Manasi is the Human Resources Manager at ACCESS Health India. She drives all human resource policies and processes and ensures alignment with the organization's strategic objectives. Previously she worked in human resources with Accenture, Schneider Electric, and Google. She also worked in manufacturing and media with Moser Baer and New Delhi Television. Gouri Sankar Pattnaik supports the Quality Improvement Cell at Aarogyasri Health Care Trust, Government of Telangana on data analysis and generation of data based evidence for driving decisions on Quality Improvement. Before joining Access Health, he worked with IPE Global Ltd and provided technical support to Department of Health and Family Welfare, and Department of Women and Child Development with the Government of Odisha. Prior to this, he worked with the Institute of Health Systems, Hyderabad as a Project Manager. He is also one of the founding members of Indian Health Economics and Policy Association. He holds a Master of Economics and Master of Finance and Control with thirteen years of work experience in Public Health and Nutrition sector.

As Financial Controller, Rahul Thakkar is responsible for overseeing the accounts and finance functions, finalization of books of accounts, compliance with all statutory matters and budgeting at ACCESS Health International. He has over fifteen years of experience in corporate accounts, internal controls, internal audit, budgeting and secretarial compliances. He has previously worked in global companies like Jones Lang LaSalle, Ivanhoe Cambridge and CMA CGM, as head of the department with overall responsibility of closing the yearly financials and all statutory compliances.

Rahul is a commerce graduate from Delhi University and holds degree of Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and degree of Company Secretary from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

As Manager, Finance and Accounts, Jitender Sharma is responsible for managing the operations of global finances at ACCESS Health International. He is a finance professional and comes with over eight years of industry experience. He is a qualified chartered accountant. Jitender received his degree from Delhi University.

Kailash Sharma is the Senior Executive Accounts of ACCESS Health International. He is responsible for global financing, banking, and accounting. Kailash has over six years of experience in finance. He previous worked with Ajay Aditya and Company, a leading chartered accountant firm in Delhi as Manager, Accounts and Audit. Kailash holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from the University of Delhi and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Finance at Sikkim Manipal University.

Arun Nair

Arun B Nair works with the ACCESS Health India team on health financing and systems research. He has vast experience working with central and various state governments in providing technical support in healthcare financing and systems research. Arun began his career with the National Health Systems Resource Center, New Delhi as a Health Finance Consultant and was involved in technical support for the implementation of health financing programs under the National Rural Health Mission. He later worked with the Institute of Public Health, Bangalore as a faculty member in Health Economics and Financing. He was Deputy Director Research of the State Health Systems Resource Center, Kerala prior to joining the ACCESS Health India team. Currently, he is a member of committee on costing of health services of Government of Kerala.

Sri Lakshmi Singu is a Quality Associate on the Safe Care, Saving Lives team. She previously held an internship with Care Hospitals, Banjara Hills, working in a range of departments, including human resources, operations, and radiology. Sri Lakshmi holds a Master's in Business Administration in Hospital and Healthcare Management from the Apollo Institute of Healthcare Management. She also has a Green Belt Six Sigma.

Shaik Rajah Asif is a Quality Associate with the Safe Care, Saving Lives program as part of the Quality and Process Improvement team in India. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, he was an assistant manager in the administration and human resources department of Sri Venkateswara Hospital in Visakhapatnam. He holds a Master’s in hospital administration from the Apollo Institute of Hospital Administration, and a Bachelor’s and Master’s in electrical engineering. He also holds a lean six sigma green belt.

Anilkumar Kandukuri is a Quality Lead with the Safe Care, Saving Lives program in Andhra Pradesh. Anilkumar has nine years of experience as a public health specialist. Before joining ACCESS Health, he was a technical consultant for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare through the National Health Systems Resource Center. He focused on strengthening public health institutions and improving maternal and child health indicators through strategic interventions. Prior to this, he was a Public Health Specialist as the Public Health Foundation of India, and an Administrative Director, Quality Improvement, at WellStar Health Systems in Atlanta Georgia. Anilkumar has a M.B.B.S Degree from NTR University of Health Sciences and a Master of Public Health from East Tennessee State University.

Tapan Jyoti Kalita

Quality Advisor

Tapan Jyoti Kalita is a Quality Advisor for the Safe Care, Saving Lives program in Telangana. He supports and oversees the quality improvement work in teaching hospitals. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, he was the Senior Program Manager, Technical Training and Capacity Building for the Better Birth Program in Uttar Pradesh with Population Services International. Tapan has been invited by the Government of Banda Aceh in Indonesia to conduct training and coaching for Safe Childbirth Checklist implementation. He has worked with the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease as a technical consultant. He has also worked as an Action Research Coordinator for an action research program on urban health infrastructure with Colorado State University and the University of Minnesota. Tapan is a Medical Graduate and holds a M.B.B.S. from Silchar Medical College, Assam, and a post graduate diploma in Health Management from the International Institute of Health Management Research in Delhi.

Monitoring and Evaluation Lead

Devicharan is the Monitoring and Evaluation Lead at ACCESS Health International. He supports various projects in strengthening evidence based monitoring mechanisms and evaluating programs through statistical systems. Devicharan has worked extensively on the design and implementation of various operational improvement projects for improving emergency response service at Emergency Management and Research Institute. Prior to this, he was associated with the Emergency Management and Research Institute, IIFC (UK) and Murugappa Group. He holds a Master’s in Management Science from London School of Economics and a degree in Engineering from Pondicherry Central University.

Operations Lead

Suresh Kamle is the Operations Lead with the Safe Care, Saving lives program. He is responsible for managing the operations of the program with key deliverables and for end to end delivery of project goals. He has more than twenty years of experience in various fields and in various capacities. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, he was heading north India operations and business development with Aryan Pumps and Enviro Solutions Private Limited. He has also worked as the Operations Head with Emergency Management and Research Institute and successfully managed operations in the states of Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. He holds a Master's Degree in Public Personnel Management and Business Administration.

Himani Sethi

Himani Sethi

Lead, Health Systems Capacity Building

Himani Sethi leads the health systems capacity building work for ACCESS Health International. Her responsibilities include state engagement, expansion and, establishment of programs and collaborations with governments and external organizations for health systems strengthening.

Himani has eighteen years of experience in public health in several high priority Indian states with leading policy making institutions, international foundations and private sector ecosystem. She has designed and executed large scale projects on public private engagement for primary healthcare delivery and introduction of promising healthcare innovations. She has worked closely with national and state level policymaking institutions and built institutional mechanism for policy analysis and advocacy to advance the population and reproductive health rights agenda in India. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, she held program lead positions at IPE Global Limited, WISH Foundation, Futures Group International. Himani is a Post Graduate in Social Work from Delhi School of Social Work and follows human-centered design approach that starts with the stakeholder engagement and ends with new solutions to build hi-impact, equitable programs.  

Deepika Sharma

Deepika Sharma

Consultant

Deepika is a consultant with ACCESS Health India. She is currently leading the work on integrated case management approach for tuberculosis control. At ACCESS Health she has also worked with projects like Mother and Neonatal Health and Elder Care. She is a PhD (2017) in Immunology of Tuberculosis from University of Delhi and has a strong understanding of Tuberculosis; its preventive and curative strategies. Her work has been presented at International Congress of Immunology in Melbourne (2016). She is a University Grant Commission-National Eligibility Test fellow for the year 2010 and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Catch Them Young Fellow for 2009-2011. Her work has been published in various international peer reviewed journals.

Sanhita Sapatnekar

Sanhita Sapatnekar

Sanhita Sapatnekar is a consultant at ACCESS Health International, and the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP), New Delhi. Prior to this, she worked at GIZ (Cambodia) and the United Nations (Indonesia). Her current research focuses on macroeconomics and monetary policy, and regulation in the health and infrastructure sectors. Amit Srivastava is consultant with ACCESS Health International and a part of health system capacity building. He is responsible for state engagement, coordination, establishment and execution of programs. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, he worked in organizations like ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Lombard and Fino Paytech Limited. He has thirteen years of extensive experience in several health programs like Rastriya Swasthya Bima Yojna, Artisans and Weavers policy and UIDAI-Aadhaar.

He Holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Lucknow University.

Senior Technical Specialist

Tushar Mokashi supports the overall healthcare financing and research work at Access Health International. He was previously associated with the healthcare financing team at National Health Systems Resource Centre, New Delhi for eight years providing continuous technical support on Healthcare Financing issues to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, State Departments of Health and Family Welfare, NITI Ayog, Finance Commission, Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation and other government institutions across the country.

His core areas of work include National Health Accounts, Government health expenditure analysis, strategic purchasing, public private partnerships (PPP), costing of health services and universal health coverage (UHC).

Tushar has a bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy. He also holds two post graduate diplomas, one in health economics, healthcare financing and health policy from the Indian Institute of Public Health, Delhi and the other one in Business Administration (Finance) from Symbiosis, Pune.

Chang Liu

Managing Director for Singapore, Mainland China, and Hong Kong

Chang Liu manages our work in east and southeast Asia. He is deeply involved in the design and supervision of ACCESS Health aging related projects in Southeast Asia and mainland China. Chang and ACCESS Health President William A. Haseltine are currently working on a new book, A City for All Ages, based on best practices in elder and long term care. Chang authored the epilogue to Dr. Haseltine’s previous book, Affordable Excellence, which documents the progress toward sustainable high quality healthcare in Singapore during 2013 and 2014.

In addition to his work with ACCESS Health, Chang is also adjunct professor at the National University of Singapore Enterprise and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He also participates in several projects on aging in Singapore, including large scale national surveys and intervention programs. Previously, he worked at the Center for Gerontology and Healthcare Research at Brown University, where he studied long term care and elder care policies in both the United States and China. He earned his PhD in Health Services Research (2013) from Brown University with a specialization in health economics. He was awarded the eXebs Friedrich J. Schoening International Scholarship and was named an eXebs Fellow during his exchange study at the European Business School, Germany.

Qing Liu is helping to launch the Modern Aging program in Shanghai. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, Qing was the director of human resources and finance at Peking University School of Transnational Law. She handled transnational operations at the school for four years. She also spent two years organizing the construction of the new law school building. She received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Science and Technology, Beijing. She developed a strong interest in healthcare from her research. She enjoys playing violin and guitar in her spare time.

Tina Ja

Director of Global Partnerships

Tina is a project lead in the Beijing office. She focuses on engagement and development of new projects and partnerships. Tina is also involved in developing the Asia Health Innovation Leaders Network. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, Tina worked in wealth management in Canada, where she built and managed a portfolio of high net worth clients with a variety of professional and cultural backgrounds. She has an MBA from Tsinghua-MIT Sloan, and holds an Honors Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology and Economics from University of Toronto. She developed her interest in healthcare during her MBA studies, where she studied health and population policies and social impact measurements, and focused her thesis on digital health in China. Outside of work, she enjoys running, yoga, and baking.

Linguo Li is helping to establish our offices in mainland China. She brings eight years of experience in research and development, management consulting, mergers and acquisitions, and healthcare industry investment. Previously, Linguo worked at Takeda Pharmaceutical as a researcher in the development of new biologics for central nervous system diseases. She also provided consultation services on market assess and expansion strategy for top pharmaceutical and medical device companies at Smith Street Solutions. In addition, Linguo worked in science investment at a venture capital fund and as a commercial director of Medimix Asia. At Medimix Asia, she oversaw multinational market research, pricing, and market access project management in the healthcare industry. Linguo is a PhD candidate in Health Economics at Fudan University. She holds a Master's degree in Medical Genetics, also from Fudan University, and Bachelor's degrees in Medicine and Science from Jilin University.

Li Zhang participated in the establishment of our offices in mainland China. She brings eight years of experience in strategic and management consulting, mergers and acquisitions, and financing in the financial service and health industries. Li majored in law and passed the China BAR exam. Previously, Li worked at Enhance International as a project manager in project execution and business development. Before Enhance International, she was a Senior Consultant with SmithStreetSolutions. She has provided strategic and operation consulting and financing services for top insurance companies, including China Pingan Insurance, Taikang Life, Sunshine Insurance, State Farm, and Progressive. She was also involved in a cancel protection insurance product suitable in China market design project with GenRe insurance company.

Shu Shang provides support to Chang Liu and ACCESS Health China. She has a strong interest in health financing and healthcare systems and policies. Her experience ranges from research on rural finances and the healthcare industry in rural China to the public impact of corporate social responsibility programs in China. Shu is a Master's candidate in Finance from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. She plays classical guitar and teaches modern dance in her spare time.

Shuai is a senior research manager at ACCESS Health. She is based in our Beijing office and is the project lead for our World Bank funded initiative on elder care delivery and financing in five developing Asian countries. Shuai holds a Master of Science in Global Health from Duke University, Kunshan campus, and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Adelaide, South Australia. She has published extensively on health systems and chronic diseases. She started her career at KPMG working with healthcare providers in the aged care sector in South Australia.

Richard Zhao is responsible for logistics and project outreach of the Modern Aging program. He is graduated from New York University Shanghai with a major in Finance. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, he worked as a legislative intern in the United States House of Representatives while he studied abroad in Washington D.C.

Zhun Meng is a volunteer at ACCESS Health China. He is an undergraduate student at the Questrom School of Business at Boston University. He is majoring in finance. Zhun has a strong interest in learning about corporate operations. His public welfare interests come from his volunteer work with Little Brothers, Boston. The nonprofit organization helps elderly people who suffer from loneliness, tenuousness, or loss of self sufficiency.

Fei Fang is a senior project manager with ACCESS Health. She is specialized in providing knowledge solutions and resources network in the area of senior care industry. She has four years of experience in managing and executing consulting projects, offering the service of strategic scheming, business positioning, and operation planning. She has served many types of clients including the local government, state owned groups, leading real estate companies, insurance enterprises, and service providers. Fei is also interested in the innovation of government and non governmental organizations in the long term care field. She has previously been involved in an assessment project of the care service provision system at the district level. In the past two years, she has continued to provide consulting services to local non governmental organizations as a volunteer.

Fei Fang holds a Master's degree in social policy from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Fudan University, Shanghai.

Yingqi Fang

Yingqi is helping develop the Asia Health Innovation Leaders Network as well as managing accounts for knowledge and engagement partners for ACCESS Health China. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, Yingqi was an actuarial consultant at Willis Towers Watson in the United Kingdom, where she provided professional advice in relation to pension plans for multinational corporations from a wide variety of industries in both public and private sectors. Yingqi received a Master of Science with Merit in Actuarial Finance from Imperial College London, Master of Philosophy in Management from University of Cambridge, and Bachelor of Engineering with first class honors in Electronic Engineering from University of Sheffield.

Shawn Gu is responsible for branding and promotion for ACCESS Health China, including marketing campaigns, marketing materials, and managing social media accounts for ACCESS Health China. He graduated from New York University Shanghai with a major in Business and Marketing.

Jing Li is in charge of the Health Futures program and is mainly responsible for key account management. Jing was previously involved in the real estate industry, assuming roles including strategic consulting, investment consulting, retail leasing, and brokerage services. Prior to that, she worked as an audit professional at Ernst & Young in Hong Kong. Jing got her Bachelor of Commerce degree at McGill University and Juris Master at Peking University.

Hui Zhang works on our Modern Aging China program. She is currently studying at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, majoring in product design. She first became interested in the health sector on a six month exchange program to Sweden. She returned from Sweden and went on to win the Shanghai University Students Award for Excellence in Social Work.

Ruru Ping

Ruru is working on a series of dementia care case studies for ACCESS Health China. Previously she worked as a research assistant at LSE Personal Social Services Research Unit, modeling future possibilities in dementia care in different regions of the world. Her research is acknowledged in the 2016 World Alzheimer Report. Ruru also has a background in pharmaceuticals, having worked in that field with IMS Consulting Group. She holds a Master’s degree in Global Health from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor’s degree with first class honors in Psychology from Warwick University.

Yue is currently launching the Modern Aging program in Beijing. She is also helping develop and strengthen new projects and partnerships in the Beijing area. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, Yue was a General Management Trainee with Mars Food, working on government affairs, global product innovation, and sales analysis. While in university, she worked with Students in Free Enterprise, now known as ENACTUS. She has a strong interest in healthcare and the aging industry, particularly in relation to public policy.

Vera Siesjö leads our work in the Philippines. She is currently leading projects on health financing and healthcare quality improvement, including the Joint Learning Network for Universal Health Coverage. Prior to joining ACCESS Health International, Vera worked as a project coordinator for an international press agency, producing country reports for The Economist, The Times, and USA Today in Mexico, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. Vera also worked as project coordinator for a state funded mental health and psychosocial support program in public hospitals in Argentina. The program aimed at integrating mental health into primary healthcare. Vera holds a a Master's of Science in Psychology degree from the University of Palermo and a Master’s degree in International Public Health from the University of Sydney. When not working, Vera enjoys running, kite surfing, and traveling.

Roland Junio manages the compliance and administration needs of ACCESS Health Philippines. He has been part of the development of an omnibus policy for issuances related to the management of the Department of Health hospitals in the Philippines. Roland holds a degree in Public Administration at the University of the Philippines Diliman and plans to pursue a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning in the same university. As an active campus organization member and student council officer during his collegiate years, he was exposed to different community engagement projects and inter cultural, inter faith, and leadership endeavors. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, he was involved in a study on the local-level power, authority, and capacity for resilience of various countries in the context of disaster risk reduction.

Josue has been part of the team working on health policies for the management of hospitals in the Philippines. Shortly before joining ACCESS Health Philippines, he spent three years at the academe as a research and professional staff providing teaching support for courses in research and public health field practice. In addition to this, he also provided technical and administrative support for the Statistical and Research Design Consulting Services of the College of Public Health, University of the Philippines Manila. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Public Health and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Epidemiology in the same university. His fields of interest include Health Policy and Financing, Health Information Systems, Mental Health, and Sexual and Reproductive health and rights.

Cara works on a project evaluating the effects of corporatization on public hospitals in the Philippines. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, Cara worked with the World Health Organization to organize and communicate with international medical field teams in response to Typhoon Haiyan. She also worked with the World Health Organization to produce Western Pacific Regional data evaluating health equity and right to health. Cara also has experience working with the University Health Network in Toronto in a clinical and research capacity pertaining to surgical and patient outcomes for oncology patients. Cara is currently a medical student at Our Lady of Fatima University in Valenzuela City, Philippines. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in International Development Studies and Molecular Biology from McGill University, and a Master’s degree in International Public Health from the University of Sydney. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, jogging, cooking, and watching sports.

Ida Marie Pantig is part of the project on the effects of corporatization in government hospitals in the Philippines. She is also a Research Associate at the Philippine Institute for Development Studies where she has done work on various Philippine health systems issues such as health financing and health resources. She recently concluded a study on capital investments in Philippine hospitals and health centers. She was a senior lecturer at the Department of Social Sciences of the University of the Philippines Manila. Ida holds a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies from the same university and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Graduate School of Public Policy at the University of Tokyo. In addition to health systems, Ida’s interests include indie pop music, cooking, and life in space.

Danika Bardelosa

Danika Bardelosa is part of ACCESS Health International Philippine team wherein she partakes in the project assessing hospital management and hospitals reforms in public hospitals in the Philippines. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of the Philippines Manila. Danika previously worked as a Research Assistant on researches in areas of Medical Teleparasitology and Health Policy at the same university. In the Medical Teleparasitology project, Danika was involved in the conduct of training of medical technologists, who are the target end users of newly developed information and communications technology based diagnostic parasitology referral system. Danika has also worked in the area of Health Policy where she conducted analysis on international and local policies on the implementation of return of service agreement for selected human resources for health. Although not practicing the profession, she is a licensed Medical Technologist. Danika prefers spending her free time by working out, cooking and trying out different cuisines. She is also inclined with her newfound passion, photography while traveling locally.

Angel Zorilla

Angel joins ACCESS Health as a public health professional. She has comprehensive experience in managing health projects and setting up health systems and service delivery networks. In addition, she has direct experience managing USAID funded projects on family planning and maternal and child health and the Global Fund project on HIV and AIDS. She is a former Health Policy Fellow for the Universal Health Care Program with the Department of Health in the Philippines, providing technical assistance in program implementation through policy development and enhancing finance and policy regulations. She has also worked on a public private partnership project with Chemonics and has provided strategic direction and technical assistance on the Reproductive Health Law in the Philippines. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, Angel was a Project Manager for Medical and Clinical Affairs, a clinical research organization and consulted on environmental health, climate change, and clinical epidemiology studies.

Angel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Community Nutrition and Master of Public Health at the University of the Philippines, Manila.

Dr. Jason V. Alacapa is a medical and public health professional who has experience spanning diverse sectors - government, nonprofits, academic, and private - focusing in clinical and public health (tuberculosis, health economics and financing, management, continuous quality improvement, and big data in healthcare). Highlight involvements include the following: an ICU medical officer for a large government hospital; a health policy consultant (tuberculosis portfolio) for a USAID project in the Philippines; a regional health research lead for a Singapore-based health tech enterprise doing healthcare big data in developing countries in Southeast Asia; and a researcher at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) School of Public Health (SPHCM) and at the Ingham Institute of Applied Medical Research (NSW Health) in Australia.

Melchor Lucas is the Medical Director for Valulife Mobile X-ray and Laboratory Service and Chua Eye Center. Melchor has almost ten years of experience practicing medicine in general surgery and almost ten years of experience in Hospital Operations at the policy level with the Department of Health in the Philippines. He has performed an assessment of Department of Health Licensed Hospitals in terms of access and quality of care using annual hospital statistical reports from 2011 to 2016. Melchor has seventeen years of experience in private healthcare in operations and in the capacity of a consultant. He is currently also the Hospital Management Advisor for Quezon City General Hospital.

Melchor holds a Doctor of Medicine from Southwestern University, Cebu City, Master in Health Services Administration from George Washington University, Master in Public Health from the University of the Philippines, Manila, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of San Carlos, Cebu City.

Adrienne focuses on business development and building our Singapore network. She creates innovative partnerships across public and private sectors that result in new healthcare and aged care models. Adrienne developed the Modern Aging program in Singapore and continues to manage key accounts for the team.

Prior to joining ACCESS Health International, Adrienne worked in education administration for the National University of Singapore Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health. In the US, she had a decade of experience in community health promotion, focusing on reproductive and adolescent health and the prevention and management of noncommunicable chronic diseases. Adrienne received her Master’s of Public Health from the University of Minnesota.

Fredrik Knoeff works in the ACCESS Health Singapore office, where he leads operational and programmatic growth. He specializes in professionalizing organizations, teams, and programs. He has over ten years of experience in the public and private sector and in the nongovernmental organization world. Previously, Fredrik worked in Tanzania as a management advisor for a local nongovernmental organization reaching out to vulnerable and marginalized groups. In the Netherlands, he worked as management consultant and was the managing director and attorney at law at a medium sized law firm. Fredrik has a Master’s degree in Management from Nyenrode Business University and a law degree from Leiden University, both in the Netherlands.

Jananie Audimulam is the manager of the Modern Aging program. She oversees programmatic implementation, evaluation as well as communications and outreach. She is passionate about chronic disease prevention using technology, especially in vulnerable populations. Previously, Jananie was a research associate in the Health Economics and Sociology group at the NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health. She holds a Master of Public Health degree from NUS, where she was awarded the competitive regional Graduate ASEAN Scholarship.

Sofi Bergkvist leads the development of new international programs for ACCESS Health. ACCESS Health International originated with Sofi's work in India, where she built strategic partnerships to improve access to high quality, affordable healthcare. Today, she continues to establish and manage partnerships with the private sector, governments, and research and development organizations around the world. Previously, Sofi worked as an analyst for an asset management company in India and as an advisor at the European Commission's delegation to the United Nations in New York. She has a Master's of Science in International Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics and studied at the MBA program at McGill University.

William Haseltine

William A. Haseltine

Chair and President

William A. Haseltine, PhD, is the chair and president of ACCESS Health International, a nonprofit organization he cofounded in 2007. Dr. Haseltine has an active career in both science and business. He was a professor at Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health from 1976 to 1993, where he was founder and the chair of two academic research departments, the Division of Biochemical Pharmacology and the Division of Human Retrovirology. He is well known for his pioneering work on cancer, HIV/AIDS, and genomics. He has authored more than two hundred manuscripts in peer reviewed journals and is the author of several books, including Affordable Excellence: The Singapore Healthcare Story and Every Second Counts: India’s Emergency Response System.

He is the founder of Human Genome Sciences, Inc., and served as the chairman and CEO of the company until 2004. He is also the founder of several other successful biotechnology companies. He is chairman of the Haseltine Foundation for Science and the Arts. and of the US-China Health Summit. He is a member of the advisory board of the IE University, Madrid. He is also a Lifetime Governor of the New York Academy of Sciences, an honorary member of the Board of Trustees of the Brookings Institution, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Sofi Bergkvist leads the development of new international programs for ACCESS Health. Anna Dirksen is Director of Communications at ACCESS Health International. She has more than ten years of strategic communications experience across a broad range of healthcare issues and geographic areas. Previously, she was Vice President at Corkery Unlimited, one of the leading strategic consulting firms specializing in health and medical communications.

Anna has led communications and outreach strategies at the United Nations Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability in Tokyo, Japan, the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and at the UN Secretariat in New York. She also previously served as Deputy Director of Communications for the global health organization PSI in Washington D.C. She earned her MSc from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and began her career as a television host, reporter, and producer in Canada.

Samantha Harrison

As Executive Coordinator, Samantha Harrison supports communication between the central office and the country offices, supporting the Chair and President, William Haseltine, and helping support country leaders as needed. She comes with nearly a decade of administrative experience and a passion for helping others. Prior to her start in the administrative field, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. She has also curated a bone marrow drive and benefit concert to bring awareness to blood diseases such as Leukemia.

Svea Meyer

Svea Meyer

Social Media Consultant

Svea Meyer is part of the communications team at ACCESS Health International, working specifically on social media. She holds a Master's Degree in International Health from Uppsala University in Sweden. Her thesis focused on the access to healthcare services for people with albinism in Tanzania. Svea has worked in Tanzania and Germany as an occupational therapist for four years and holds a Bachelor's degree in the same field.
