Dr. Hala Zaid Honored by Egypt’s Prime Minister for Leadership in Health and Social Protection

ACCESS Health International is proud to celebrate the recognition of Dr. Hala Zaid, former Minister of Health and Population of Egypt and current Director for our Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region. She was recently honored by H.E. Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly during the national ceremony marking ten years of the Takaful and Karama program.

The event, held in Cairo, brought together national leaders, policymakers, and development partners to celebrate a decade of Egypt’s flagship social protection program. Dr. Zaid received this honor for her exceptional contributions to strengthening the integration of health within social protection policies. Her leadership ensured that the country’s most vulnerable populations not only received financial support but also gained access to essential health and education services.

As Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Zaid played a critical role in aligning Egypt’s health strategy with broader social development goals. Her work contributed significantly to the success of Takaful and Karama, which now supports more than 4.6 million households across Egypt.

This recognition reflects her longstanding commitment to inclusive public policy and people-centered systems. At ACCESS Health, we are privileged to work with Dr. Zaid as she brings the same vision and expertise to our programs across the MENA region. Her leadership continues to guide efforts to build more equitable, resilient, and effective health systems.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Zaid on this well-deserved national recognition.
