Origin Story

The India Health System Collaborative (IHSC) was conceptualized in 2018, supported by a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. A small group of researchers was engaged to transform this concept into reality, focusing on addressing pressing policy inquiries related to India’s healthcare system. This initiative involved establishing a close, collaborative relationship with key decision-makers within the healthcare sector.

Today, IHSC continues to work towards strengthening India’s health system by providing an interdisciplinary platform for collaborative research. This platform generates evidence for policy interventions that address both national and global health challenges while also building capacity for health systems research.

Collaborative Objectives

Promote collaborative research on policy-relevant issues in India’s health system.

Generate evidence to inform health system reforms and policy interventions.

Build and strengthen the technical capacity of health systems researchers.

Foster evidence-based policymaking through engagement among health systems stakeholders.
