This report describes the healthcare scenario in the North Coast region of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh, India. From August 2010 to January 2011, qualitative and quantitative research methods were used to reveal the challenges faced by the district public health system and the private sector in provision of healthcare.

Lessons from this report provide evidence to support the development of health policy and funding applications. The analysis reveals that once the healthcare needs of the population are determined, provision of effective and efficient healthcare is possible without adding costs to the payee or the exchequer.
