Our Story

ACCESS Health International, a non-profit think tank, focuses on improving access to high-quality, affordable healthcare globally through research, policy advocacy, and evidence-based action aimed at health systems strengthening.

Founded in 2007 by Prof. William A. Haseltine following his study of healthcare innovations in India, ACCESS Health was established to capture and share key learnings from these models.

We work with governments, healthcare providers, academia, and private organizations to drive health sector improvements. As a 501(c)(3) charity, we are committed to social impact, fostering partnerships that deliver sustainable healthcare solutions. With offices in India, Southeast Asia, MENA, and the United States, we advance healthcare through research, capacity building, and convening networks to support vulnerable communities and strengthen health systems worldwide.

Founded as a non-profit think tank, advisory group, and implementation partner in Hyderabad, India
2008
Incorporated as ACCESS Health International in the state of Delaware, United States
2010
Initiated the Joint Learning Network for Universal Health Coverage in collaboration with The World Bank and Results for Development
2011
Began operations in Singapore
2012
Extended operations to the Philippines
2013
Expanded operations into Sweden and Morocco
2014
Launched the Safe Care, Saving Lives program in Hyderabad to improve maternal and child healthcare outcomes
2015
Began operations in China

Began operations in New Delhi, India

Introduced the Modern Aging program in Singapore, supporting businesses addressing the needs of the aging population
2018
Initiated support towards implementing India’s largest social health insurance scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana
2018
Established the India Health Systems Collaborative research network, with ACCESS Health serving as the secretariat
2019
Expanded digital health initiatives, launching the Fintech for Health platform to improve healthcare access through digital financial services
2021
Launched the Global Learning Collaborative for Health Systems Resilience (GLC4HSR) to foster global collaboration for health systems resilience
2022
Initiated technical support towards the adoption of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) to further transform the digital health landscape in India
2022
Established the Health Informatics Network to standardize efforts toward building capacity in health informatics
2022
Formed the Asia Pacific Cardiovascular Disease Alliance to address cardiovascular disease across the region
2023
Onboarded as the India network implementation partner of the multicountry Frontier Health Markers (FHM) Engage program
2024
Established a new office in Dubai, Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, to meet the pressing healthcare needs of the diverse region
2024
Founded the Stop Hep Alliance to combat hepatitis globally
