ACCESS Health International was delighted to participate in the Transforming African MedTech Conference 2025 (TAMC), held in Nairobi and hosted by Villgro Africa. The conference convened innovators, policymakers, investors, and development partners to explore strategies for accelerating MedTech innovation and building sustainable health systems across the continent.
Representing ACCESS Health, Mr. Ahmed Osman, Regional Partnerships and Fundraising Manager – MENA, led a session on “MedTech Finance in Africa: Governance, Investment & Tracking.” His remarks highlighted how improved governance structures, transparent investment practices, and the use of digital tools can help reverse recent funding declines and unlock long-term growth in the MedTech sector. The discussion also emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration and accountability in creating an enabling environment for innovation.
The TAMC platform offered an opportunity to reflect on both the promise and the challenges of Africa’s MedTech landscape. While the region faces persistent financing gaps and structural barriers, there is also significant momentum driven by young innovators, increasing adoption of digital health solutions, and growing recognition of MedTech’s role in addressing urgent healthcare needs. Supporting MedTech innovation and sustainable financing is not only vital for advancing equitable access to care but also for building resilience and driving long-term transformation across the continent.
