With the rollout of the Ayushman Bharat Vay Vandana Yojana, senior citizens aged 70 and above, irrespective of income or class, are now entitled to benefits under Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
In alignment with this initiative, a special outreach was organized at Happy Parents Old Age Home, Indira Nagar, Lucknow, on November 17, under the leadership of Mrs. Sangeeta Singh, CEO of SACHIS, State Health Agency for implementation of AB-PMJAY and ACCESS Health. The initiative was successful in enrolling senior citizens in the scheme and also provided instant access to healthcare under the scheme for a few.
The initiative helped understand the challenges faced by the elderly in old age homes and how services such as hospital appointments and access to ambulance and transport can improve the quality of life.
