ACCESS Health Program Manager Sofia Widén conducts this interview with Kirsten Springborg and Mette Pawlik Olesen about Rise Care Home (Rise Parken), a long term care home in Aabenraa, Denmark. Eighty percent of the residents at Rise Care Home live with some form of dementia.

The Rise Care Home facility consists of eight houses, with twelve residents in each house. Separate housing accommodates residents who face more challenges living in larger groups or who suffer from extreme symptoms of dementia such as aggression. This separate housing unit is sub divided into two smaller units with a maximum of six residents in each. Living in smaller groups creates a safer and more comfortable environment for these residents.

This interview describes Rise Care Home’s facilities as a model for care homes in Denmark and abroad. The technological advancements it provides put it at the forefront of dementia care in Denmark.
