Rahul is a public health professional with over a decade of experience in strengthening the public health system, mainly revolving around maternal and neonatal care. He currently serves as a Medical Specialist at ACCESS Health International. His earlier roles include significant contributions at IHAT (India Health Action Trust) and UNICEF, focusing on strengthening the Labour Room and Maternity Operation theatre for better delivery outcomes and in the SNCU (Sick Newborn Care Unit) /NBSU (Newborn Stabilization Unit) for improving Neonatal care in Uttar Pradesh. He began his public health journey while pursuing an MD in Community Medicine and later became part of IHAT’s (India Health Action Trust) initiative to improve outcomes in childhood pneumonia and diarrhoea. Then worked with PATH on a drug-resistant tuberculosis project, where his efforts were centered around scaling up CBNAAT (Cartridge Based Nucleic Acid Amplification Technique) diagnostics and engaging the private health sector for better treatment compliance & adherence. Dr. Katiyar holds an MBBS from Baba Raghav Das Medical College, Gorakhpur, and an MD from King George’s Medical University, Lucknow. He is also a certified external assessor for the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS). Outside of work, he is passionate about fitness and enjoys playing outdoor games & going to the gym -committed to living healthy and inspiring others to do the same.
