Health accounts are a critical area of health systems strengthening and an essential step towards achieving universal health coverage. They help monitor spending, provide insights from past expenditures, and enable administrators to improve planning and resource allocation within the health system, thereby increasing efficiency and accountability. Insights from health accounts are crucial for assessing the impact of current policies, informing future resource allocation and expenditure decisions, reducing inequalities, and protecting people from catastrophic health expenditures.
The WHO Country Office for India has collaborated with the Government of Rajasthan to implement this first round of health accounts, marking a significant step towards institutionalizing processes and budgetary allocations for a more resilient and equitable health system in the state.
